10/13/2010 (Wed) - Mongolian Grill Day

We have such an exciting life don't we - not.  Seems like we go from one eating event to another.
Was very warm here today up around 102 degrees.  Was even warm in the 5th wheel as it's hard to keep it cool when it's that warm outside.

Today was grocery shopping day and we are now stocked up for another week.  Well when you think that we ate out tonight, eating out tomorrow night, and we are cooking for six on Friday, then eating at Jim's daughters house on Sunday how many groceries does a person need for a week.  Not that much.

I forgot to take a picture of this pumpkin yesterday so I did today.  This was made out of a dryer hose or whatever it's called.  You can make them out of the RV sewer hose but that sounds gross.  Looks pretty easy to me and I think it's quite attractive.

You coil it in a circle and then glue it together.  Once it's dry spray paint it orange.  Then add the leaf. I saw a number of them that had a cinnamon stick in the middle for a stem.  I don't know how much of the hose material was used for each pumpkin but I don't think much.

This is what it looks like upside down.

This is where it is seamed together maybe with Gorilla Glue.
So get busy and make a bunch of those.  You'll have them all done in time for the fall events.

At 5:00pm we left to go to another Cal Am park called Mesa Regal to attend what is called a Mongolian Grill Event.  The Mesa Regal is an RV Resort that has in excess of 2,000 sites and is just a huge complex.  We as guests of one of the Cal Am Resorts can go to any event they sponsor. We thought it was just a dinner but it turned out to include their Octoberfest.  So for the $10.00 pp we had a wonderful meal plus entertainment we could dance to.

.
The food was lined up on huge tables.  You name it and it was on those tables.  Every stir fry item you could think of.

You picked out what you wanted stir fried and put it into the container.  Do you see Jim?

My food before cooking.  Doesn't look like much does it.

Then we took it outside where they stir fried it for you.

Was delicious, but way more than I could eat.

Included in the meal was a salad, egg drop soup, rolls, fruit, cookies, and lemonade, or ice tea.  We ended up bringing part of it home.  They served beer, mixed drinks, and wine for a small charge.  I think the beer was $1.00 a glass.  So we danced a few numbers and came back home.  The season has just begun and many of the residents have not arrived so the events we have attended did not have a lot of people at them.  Tonight for as huge as the Resort is very few were at the event.  I don't think much more than a little over a hundred.

Sarah said we can start decorating next Thursday for our Octoberfest here at Sun Life.  Hope its more lively than the one tonight.  In all Cal Am Resorts the activity halls have huge felt covered boards about 4 feet by 8 feet that they attach decorations to.  Everything has Velcro on it so all you have to do is just stick it up.  All the Resorts share in the decorations.
