Staying Put in Menahga, MN

For those of you who missed out on our itinerary I just want you to know that we are taking route 2 all the way to Glacier National Park.  After spending a week there we are going to Seattle, WA to go on an Alaskan cruise.  Once back from there we are going west along the Pacific coast all the way down to the middle of California and then heading east to Mesa, AZ.  We plan to spend at least two months there and then possibly heading to Punta Gorda for four months.
If you click on any any of the pictures they will come up larger.

Today started out with terribly high winds and rain like you can't imagine.  Not a Rving driving day at all.  It was dark and deary for about half a day.  We found out the bed we slept in last night was number 40 of 63 built. It was built by the same man who made the statue of Paul Bunyan.  I'm beginning to think we were perhaps the 40th couple who slept there too.  I know of several by the initals of J/A, S/D, and W/S who slept there before us.

This bed even had a mirror ceiling
Today we put Dan in charge of McKenna so we could to go visit a place called Anderson Homes.  www.anderson-homes-inc.com/  They have the neatest prebuild homes I have ever seen.  Dan and Betty have just a fantastic A-Frame home that came in four sections.  Seriously you would never in a million years think this home arrived on a semi.  It's huge, it's big, it's drop dead gorgeous.  I want one!  Go on the Anderson Homes site I mentioned above and take a look.  We spent several hours just touring these homes.

On our way to the Anderson Home place we passed by Saint Urho.  Don't know who he is?  He is the saint that chased the grasshoppers out of Finland thus saving the grape crop and therefore saving the wine.  All you wine drinkers should have a special affection for Saint Urho.

The one and only Saint Urho
We dropped Jim off back at Dan's and headed for a place called Summerhill Farm which is totally tourist but really nice.  Yes they had lots of fall sales and no we did not buy anything.

Summerhill farm.
Driving to and from these places I was able to get a few more 'barn' shots.  I know you just love those as much as I do. You just won't admit it.

I also had to of course take a few more of our little McKenna. What a little sweetheart. She is so good and laughs all the time.

Dinner calls so this is it.  We are having roasted chicken and for dessert banana cream pie.  Hummm good.  Betty is one fanastic cook
